The other week I ran a mini challenge to help online business owners to increase their Facebook Page Engagement and the results were amazing!
Here’s a few highlights of the amazing results:
Jacqui increased her Post Reach by a MASSIVE 4.5K!
Anita increased her Page Views by a WHOPPING 5,800% & her Page Likes by 4,200%!
Katherine increased her Page Views by 2,500%!
Nicole increased her Post Engagements by 2,875%!
Jenny increased her Post Reach by a STAGGERING 9,900%!!!
Chanel increased her Post Engagements by 3,650%!
Every day for 5 days, members of the challenge received an email with a task to do - a carefully designed post to share on their Facebook Page.
Now, we all know that Facebook Pages are notoriously hard to get engagement on if you’re just starting out or aren’t posting the right types of content. Unless of course you want to pay for ads (which you probably don’t!)
And if you are going the Ads route….
Well, you’ve got to make sure you know what you’re doing there too, otherwise you can just be throwing money down the drain.
And that’s simply no fun!
What I like to focus on, are organic Facebook marketing strategies - as in 100% free ways to get more eyes on your content, attract your ideal clients and have them fully engaged with you and your content.
Inside the Content Creators Vault, you get to download & fully customise (if you want to!) over 30 graphics each month, plus choose from over 160 ‘copy & paste’ statuses too.
These are great if you’re super busy and want to streamline your social media marketing and get more time back in your day!
It also helps you to finally master the ONE THING that every entrepreneur tells me they struggle with - being CONSISTENT with their social media marketing (not just for a few days or weeks at a time!)
So in this post, I want to share with you just a few of the golden nuggets that I shared in the challenge!
Oh, and by the way, if you want to do the challenge for yourself and get results like the guys I mentioned earlier did you can get instant access to my Facebook Page Engagement training 'Captivate & Convert' right here inside the CCV.
It always sounds so obvious, but it’s the biggest issue for many busy online entrepreneurs just like you.
It can often feel like you’re spinning plates and someone keeps chucking even more and more at you… at some point, they’re going to crash to the ground and you’re going to collapse into a heap on the floor after them!
Posting on social media consistently is the best way to grow your social media following, no matter which platform you’re using.
Sure, you can pay for Page Likes on Facebook, but even once you’ve done that, you’ve got to have the content on your Page to keep them there and engaged with you.
The easiest way to post consistently on social media is to create a consistent social media plan that works for you.
Choose the right types of content to share, in the right formats for your particular audience and plan it out in advance.
The next step is to batch create your content.
When you batch create content, a couple of magical things happen:
If you’re a member of the Content Creators Vault, you’ll probably be spending less than 60 minutes PER MONTH on all your social media content, blog posts & email marketing.
Although you aren’t allowed to use your Personal Profile as a business, you ARE allowed to share posts from your Page to your Profile.
Make use of this feature to expand your audience - if you’ve been using Facebook to create relationships and build your network, I’m going to bet that you have hundreds of friends on your personal profile that haven’t Liked your Page yet!
Facebook’s mission is to bring people closer together - that means they want you to have two-way conversations with your friends & fans.
Before your share a post on Facebook, spend a few minutes replying and commenting on other people’s posts.
Don’t just reply to anyone though - comment on people’s posts that you want to see YOUR content! The more you interact with someone, the more Facebook will show your posts in their newsfeeds as they see it as being important.
You two are friends, you communicate with each other, so of course you’re going to want to see their latest updates, right?
After you’ve selectively commented on posts, THEN it’s time to post your update.
This Facebook engagement hack is often overlooked because it’s easier to communicate on Facebook as yourself than as your Page when you’re commenting on posts from other Facebook Pages.
However, remember that when you do this, your business is showing up in front of hundreds or thousands of new people!
You can use Facebook as your Page once or twice a day and comment on other Pages posts and those of your ideal clients.
I’m going to take a wild guess here and say that you follow some big names on Facebook? I know I do!
I follow people who inspire me, who motivate me and who are in the same industry or niche as me - and you should be doing the same!
Find a few influencers you like start engaging with their posts. Don't just reply to THEIR post though, reply to other peoples comments too.
For instance, I follow the Content Marketing Institute on Facebook. I know that 99.9% of people who follow them are interested in Content Marketing and creating content!
As a Marketing & Mindset Coach who specialises in content marketing, these people are also in my target market.
By having a two way conversation with these people, you’ll start to create relationships and you’ll soon notice the same names popping up over & over again.
Once you’ve started to build a relationship with someone, it’s perfectly OK to add them as a friend!
But this is more than ‘just adding friends’ to your network.
What you’re actually doing here is adding people who are likely to become a client for you, as you know that they are interested in what you do.
This is a big mistake that I see a lot of entrepreneurs making online.
The words that you choose have a huge impact on the tone of your post, the emotion and the effect it will have on your readers.
When you talk AT people, you’re forcing a specific situation to occur - you’re playing the role as the entertainer and they are the audience.
This is probably one of the biggest reasons you’re not getting much engagement on your posts.
People like to feel special and that their opinions matter (which it does!). If they are forced to become a passive spectator, it’s easy for them to become bored and irritated with you.
Here’s what to do:
Swap out the word “I” for “You”
It’s a quick simple tweak that will make all the difference!
This Facebook engagement trick follows on really nicely from the last one - you have to ask people to do what you want them to do!
Go back and check through you’re last week or months worth of Facebook Page posts…
On how many of those posts are you actually asking your audience to DO something?
It’s way too easy for people to scan read a post while they keep on scrolling, so if you want them to do something, you’ve got to ask them upfront!
Here’s a few ways you can do this:
We all know Facebook's algorithm makes it pretty hard for posts to get a decent amount of reach nowadays.
There are a few ways you can help your audience to see your posts though by using the Comment Bump technique.
Here’s how it works:
Step 1: Share your post
Step 2: Write a comment yourself in the comments. This could be a ‘PS’, a ‘Oh I forgot to mention..’ or even something simple like ‘#TRUTH’
Step 3: Once you’ve got a couple of comments, go back and reply to those people and get the conversation started by asking them a question
Step 4: Keep the conversation going and the post relevant and fresh to Facebook by going back again later to reply to more comments
There are a couple of ways to do this!
You can link your Facebook Page & Group which gives you the option of automatically sharing you Page’s post to your Facebook Group in once click
Or you can post just on your Page and copy the URL of the post and share that into your Group. This works better in my experience than the automatic share mentioned above. It also works better than using the ‘Share’ button on your post.
There are a couple of things to note when using this technique though:
If you click on your original post and then the TIME you posted it, you’ll get your URL. - But it’s super long & ugly! If you do it this way, jump into a link shorter tool like Bitly to make your link short & pretty!
The other thing to bare in mind is that Facebook sometimes has glitches. Last week in the Facebook Page Engagement Challenge for instance, it came up with an error message ‘Insufficient Permission’ so other people couldn’t view your content, even though it looked fine for you.
This seemed to happen on Image posts only and is probably been fixed by the time you read this!
However, if you do get that error message, try using the next method….
If you’re on the go or using the Facebook app, click on the arrow on the top right corner of your post and click ‘Save Post’. (It may say “Save Video’ or ‘Save Image’ depending on what you have posted.)
Go to your SAVED ITEMS, click on the 3 dots (...) and click ‘Copy URL’. This gives you a much shorter link which is nicer to look at!
Facebook isn’t all about one type of content - there is so much you can create and share!
Find out what types of content your audience likes the best and provide more of it! You can simply put the question out there & ask them, create a quick poll, send a survey to your email list or check your Page Insights to find a common theme with your most popular posts.
If your most popular posts are images, create & share more of them!
