3 Types Of Content That You MUST Share On Social Media

According to the ‘stat gurus’ over at Facebook, there are 60 million active Business Pages and yours is just one teeny little one in amongst a sea of other businesses, all vying for the love and attention of Facebook's users.

So how on earth can you stand out and make an impact?

There are 3 types of content that you absolutely MUST share on a regular basis if you want to become known as an Expert in your industry - or even if you want to make any sales at all!

Here’s my issue with social media…

Now don't get me wrong, I love social media, but Entrepreneurs and Brands have been told the wrong information for far too long!

You’ve been told it’s ALL about posting 3-5 times per day, it’s ALL about having conversations and building relationships…

And it’s not.

When you use social media for your business, you’re doing it for two reasons:

  1. To create more exposure for your brand
  2. To gain leads & make sales

You’re not on social media to make friends, chat about the weather or what you had for dinner last night.

Now, before you go all Grumpy the Dwarf on me, I’m not saying that there isn’t a place for building relationships and having a little light chit-chat.

I’m saying it’s not your MAIN OBJECTIVE when you’re on the platform.

To use social media productively for your business, you need to be sharing 3 main types of content that will give you more exposure and those all important sales.

Social Media Content #1: Positioning Content

First and foremost, you need to position yourself as an authority on social media.

Whoever you sell to, whatever your market or ideal client may be, you must have the right positioning first.  If people see you as the Blogging Girl, rather than the SEO Girl, you have a major problem.

Positioning comes down to your audience's trust in you.  If they don’t trust you, they won't buy from you.

So how can you position yourself as an Expert in your niche?

The fastest and easiest ways to do this are on Facebook, using Facebook Live and Facebook Groups.

By creating your own Facebook Group, you automatically become a leader by being the group owner.  It’s like an instant facelift! Run your group well, and you’ll have your own community of ideal clients hanging on to every word.

The second option on Facebook is to go Live.  These can be done on your personal profile or business page, but whichever you choose, make them a regular occurrence.

One thing all great leaders and experts have in common?  They show up when they say they are going to!

The Value Bombs

Share a text based post or go Live every day for 30 days giving awesome, over the top, mind-blowing value.

This may sound like a lot of work (and you have to be 100% committed to this), but if you want to be seen as an expert, you have to build the momentum around it to position yourself in that way.

No one ever showed up once and suddenly became the ‘go to’ person in their industry did they?

Social Media Content #2: Relatability Content

Now you have positioned yourself as an expert in your niche, it’s time to ensure that people can still relate to you.

Why do we need people to be able to relate to us?  Because your prospective clients need to see a bit of themselves in you.

Your ideal clients are probably you, but a few years ago right?

Perhaps you’re a Health Coach and your clients are wanting to keep fit & healthy… which was you a few years ago.

Maybe you are a Business Coach and you teach launch strategies to entrepreneurs who are ready to launch their online course… just like you did.

You can also be relatable in other ways too.  Share the parts of yourself that your target market also has.

You may be a busy Mum & CEO, perhaps you’re a Military Wife or you’re an expat now living abroad.

The Life Changer

Share your beginnings!

A great way to get people to see themselves in you, is to share the story of how you started your business, why you started it and what life was like for you before you learnt or discovered the strategy that you now teach others.

Then move the story on to where you are right now and how the 'secret' or strategy you now offer your clients has changed your life.

Note:  This isn’t a ‘rags to riches’ story.  It’s not meant to make everyone feel sympathetic towards you and get the tissues out.  It’s an open and honest account of how your life has changed.

Social Media Content #3: Valuable Promo Content

The third kind of content that you absolutely must share on social media is the Valuable Promo content.

This type of content is going to create a flood of leads and sales into your business by leading with value and telling people that they can work with you!

Hard, direct promo has its place, but social media is more about social selling than ‘cold calling’.

The Mini Training

This is one of my favourite ways to sell my products and services on social media!  It’s simple, effective and is tailored to exactly what your audience wants from you!

Start by asking your target market what help they need in their business right now in relation to what you offer.

Then deliver a 3 day mini video training series around that topic and at the end of each training, include a call to action for people to work with you.

Because you’ve delivered so much value first, people will be biting at the bit to work with you!

Start using these three types of content today!
