Great question! The short answer is: “You should be posting on Facebook as often as you can consistently whilst still providing valuable content”.
Content is King & Quality is Queen
As long as you’re always providing value in your posts, you’re on the right track!
But I know exactly what you’re thinking…
You want exact numbers, suggestions and tips to base your content schedule on!
I hear you!
In this post, I’m going to cover the BEST posting strategy for Facebook..
We all know that your Facebook Page reach is pretty rubbish - let’s be honest!
But there ARE ways you can increase your reach and engagement with various types of posts, consistency and the number of posts you publish.
According to recent studies, you should post on your Facebook Page once per day (two posts max), and at the very least 3 times per week.
This keeps your Page updated with fresh content and helps potential clients to see that you are active, relevant and gives them a feeling of what you’re all about.
Uncovering the best times to post on your FB Page will massively help your online visibility, engagement & reach.
There are lots of studies that have come up with their own reports detailing what times they think are best, which I have listed below.
Use these if you like - but there really is only ONE way to discover what time is best for you, which I’ll go into more in just a sec!
In truth, the best times are dependant on when your ideal clients are online!
It’s really as simple as that!
Start by asking yourself a few questions:
For example, if your ideal clients are Mums with young children, then posting at school pick up time probably isn't the best idea for you!
If you need help getting to know your ideal clients, grab the Client Avatar Workbook here.
The best time to post on your Facebook Page is when your audience is watching, right? And it’s really easy to find that out in just a couple of minutes!
As you can see in the image above from my page, 12noon on a Tuesday had the highest number of my audience online, but any time between midnight at 2pm Pacific time was high for me.
NOTE: If you’re not in Pacific time, be sure to convert the times over to your timezone! You can just Google it or use a timezone converter like this one!
TIP: If you’re in the UK, Pacific time is 8 hours behind us, so 12noon PST is 8pm GMT.
Ok, now that you have your Facebook Page schedule set up, let’s look at how often to post in your own Facebook Group.
I post in my FB Group, the Empowered Entrepreneurs Club, at least once per day, usually 2-3 times. The key here is to remember that your Facebook Group is about COMMUNITY & SUPPORT, not just about making sales.
Vary your post types and create a fun group where your members want to hang out with you!
As always, check out your own data to make the most of your group!
“What about other Facebook Groups?”
Another great question! Facebook Groups that you are a part of are a great way to increase your following, become known as an expert in your industry and of course a way to increase your own FB Group members!
There is one simple rule to posting in other people Facebook Groups:
Add 3x more value than you sell.
I like to post in a few carefully chosen groups every day with a mixture of value posts, targeted comments and share my paid & free offers. You can discover exactly how to do this too in the Social Media Marketing Plan.
There you have it! The absolute BEST times to post on Facebook & how often you should post to increase your engagement & reach!
